New international exhibition to celebrate Italian Textiles

FABRICa Italian Textile Style and Innovation will open in Singapore and then travel the world relying on a network of the Italian Embassies and Cultural Institutes.

Italian knit fabrics producers Carvico and Jersey Lomellina are among the textile companies to be found at a new exhibition organised by CMS.Cultura on behalf of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs which. Starting from Singapore, the exhibition will be touring the world for the next two years.

The Italian Embassy of Singapore and the Singapore Fashion Council are celebrating the opening of FABRICa. Italian Textile Style and Innovation, an international exhibition focusing on the Italian textile supply chain, conceived by CMS.Cultura and produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with con Sistema Moda Italia, ACIMIT (Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Confartigianato Imprese, with the aim of telling the international public about Italian Textiles quality, technology, and research.

Carvico and Jersey Lomellina, two Italian businesses headquartered in the district of Bergamo specialising in the production of stretch warp-knitted and circular knitted fabrics which, thanks to decades of experience in their markets, have become the benchmarks for the textile sector and are among the global players exhibiting at the event.

Carvico and Jersey Lomellina have been selected, along with other Italian enterprises, to represent the country at FABRICa, through a tactile and interactive exhibition addressing historical, technical, and manufacturing factors as well as the variety and quality of Italian textiles.  The whole sector is the crown jewel of Italy’s industry thanks to its pioneering spirit and the willingness to consistently invest in next-generation machinery and high-tech materials.

The exhibition features six different sections and several modules rich in images, texts, and multi-sensorial experiences. From fashion to interior design fabrics, from sportswear fibres to sustainable yarns, visitors will be facing the following journey:

1. Historical contents

2. Fabrics for the apparel sector

3. Interior design

4. Performance fabrics

5. Production techniques

6. Textiles and the environment.

 "The FABRICa project is part of the promotional campaign launched to advertise our companies abroad,” said Antonio Tajani,Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. “Italian textiles are famous in the world for their quality and innovative content, and the whole sector is currently leading the manufacturing industry of the country, contributing to the growth of the GDP and the increase in the employment rates, thus turning Italy in one of the global export leaders.”

"We intend to keep supporting the rich and articulated Italian network of historical companies, innovative start-ups and big manufacturing groups which operate to maintain the competitiveness of the sector and invest into quality, technology and research to allow Made in Italy to stand out and keep its historical appeal abroad" claimed Mr Tajani.

After opening in Singapore, FABRICa is moving to Vietnam, both to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and then will be travelling the world relying on the support of the diplomatic network of the Italian Embassies and Cultural Institutes.

The FABRICa exhibition was conceived by CMS.Cultura and produced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in partnership with Sistema Moda Italia, ACIMIT (Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and Confartigianato Imprese and designed by Corrado Anselmi with the contribution of Stefano Zuffi, and the Museum of Textiles of Prato and over thirty Italian businesses.
