AnvilSustainable products are made from post-consumer P.E.T. polyester and combed ring-spun transitional cotton (or cotton in conversion). These T-shirts support the recycling of plastic bottles and the conversion of acreage from conventional cotton farming to organic cotton farming.

Each AnvilSustainable T-shirt is said to use about three 20 ounce recycled P.E.T. plastic bottles and cotton that comes from farms undergoing the three-year process of transitioning to organic (or have become certified organic); each shirt has an estimated cradle-to-grave product life cycle assessment of kg 3.29 CO2e, according to the company.

AnvilOrganic products are made from certified organic cotton, and are produced by a farming system that avoids the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. The T-shirts also have an estimated cradle-to-grave product life cycle assessment of kg 3.09 CO2e per shirt, according to the company.

Anvil, whose original tag line for over a century was ‘Hard to Beat', is now a leading apparel brand primarily serving the image wear and private label markets. Anvil offers over 70 styles of sportswear and accessories in 80 colours, including 17 eco friendly styles in fibres such as organic cotton, recycled cotton, transitional cotton (or cotton in conversion) and recycled polyester from PET bottles. Anvil was recently ranked the 6th largest organic program in the world by the Organic Exchange.
