Groz-Beckert launches iPad app for knitters

Groz-Beckert has launched a new app for for the iPad called myGrozBeckert for knitters, which the German company says is a simple and comfortable way to access comprehensive information on everything to do with Groz-Beckert.

The myGrozBeckert app aims to give users access to technical information and will also allow them to benefit from the company's smart calculation aids. Groz-Beckert says it will also allow users to stay completely up to date with its product movies and brochures.

myGrozBeckert allows the user to convert yarn counts and calculate yarn consumption. In addition it gives the user yarn count recommendations and can determine the number of needles required for a particular operation in circular knitting, flat knitting or for sock machines.

"With the myGrozBeckert app and the Toolbox, you'll have absolutely everything you need. There's even a gauge and spacing calculator included," Groz-Beckert tells knitters.

"Along with all kinds of general information, constantly updated films and numerous brochures, the basic myGrozBeckert app also includes the yarn gauge converter tool free of charge," the company says, adding:

"All other functions can be further enhanced at any time using the additional Toolbox app. Activation of the entire Toolbox costs a mere one-off charge of 2.39 Euro. There are no other obligations."

Conversion of yarn counts

Groz-Beckert says that whether you are using yarn counts such as tex, Ne, Nm or dtex, it's never been simpler to convert yarn counts into other units of measurement.

Calculation of yarn consumption (circular knitting)

Using Groz-Beckert's new Toolbox App, you can determine yarn consumption in circular knitting for up to five different types of yarn, as well as calculating the yarn costs.   

Recommendation: yarn count (circular knitting)

The Toolbox app also recommends the correct yarn count to use for the particular machine type and gauge, which the user has selected to produce a particular fabric.

Calculation: number of needles

Users can enter important production parameters and the Toolbox app also calculates the number of needles required, whether it's for circular knitting, flat knitting or sock machines.

Gauge and spacing calculator

Using the Gauge and spacing calculator, users can quickly and transparently determine cylinder spacing depending on the number of needles per inch.
