21 May 2009, Dallas - Market Center Management Company
(MCMC), the management company of leading wholesale trade centres and trade
events around the world, today announced that the premiere GlobalTex: LA
International Textile & Sourcing Fair exceeded expectations during the
launch event that was held April 28-30 at the Los Angeles Convention Center
(LACC). The show was endorsed by the Textile Association of Los Angeles (TALA)
and California Fashion Association (CFA) and supported by Espace Textile, Fashion
Business Incorporated (FBI), and Mudpie Inc.
"We have met our goal of setting a new standard for
west coast trade events," said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, Market
Center Management Company. "Attendance far exceeded our expectations, and
the fresh design, quality exhibitors, and relevant seminars added up to a big
success. We look forward to tripling the number of exhibitors for October as
the most progressive show in the United States."
GlobalTex welcomed more than 2,200 attendees from 17
countries and 125 exhibitors included leading resources in the following
categories: fabric mills, textile suppliers, international brands, full package
manufacturers, trim suppliers, technology companies, art studios, trend
companies and accessories suppliers during the three-day show.
The partnership with trend forecaster Mudpie provided
attendees with superior trend information. Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie, project
managed the trend display areas which included the Live area featuring Mudpie’s
four trends: conscious, kinetic, utopia and creative; the Work and Play area
included performance fabrics; and the Denim Lounge was inspired by the denim
and casual sportswear market.
“We could not have been more pleased with Mudpie,” said
Cindy Morris, COO, Market Center Management Company. “Fiona Jenvey worked hard
in hand with our team on the look and feel of the trend displays. We look
forward to a continued partnership as we grow our trend offerings.”
“Market Center Management Company had a strong creative
vision for the show which is why we were delighted to be involved,” said
Jenvey. “GlobalTex is offering the industry what it needs, an innovative trend
led sourcing solution, something that I’ve never seen before in the United
States.”
The Los Angeles Convention Center proved the ideal venue for
GlobalTex. It provided the show with an open floor plan that was arranged in an
easy-to-shop format. MCMC is committed to the city of Los Angeles and TALA to
produce 20 shows over the next 10 years with plans to triple the size of the
show for October and has already booked additional hall space for the next
show.
“At last, we have found a real trade show [GlobalTex]…we are
pleased…it is professional, pretty – like the trade shows we have in Europe,”
said Agnés Elisabelar, Export Manager, Espace Textile.
The educational and networking opportunities were well
attended and received. Practical seminars by experts on timely topics were
presented during the show. The goal was to offer a range of information from
important trends to relevant business topics. During challenging economic times
trade show seminars offer valuable information directly to attendees. Other
topics included software/technology, industry issues, trends, best business
practices, social media, and many more. Each presenter shared information that
offered attendees inspiration and/or valuable expertise.
GlobalTex is the first full-scale production and design
trade show in the United States presenting the complete supply chain for
fashion. GlobalTex features the latest fabrics, trims, private label
collections, original design manufacturers, printing, graphic design and the
technologies that support production. The show attracts leading designers,
product developers, retailers, and wholesalers. In addition, the show offers
helpful matchmaking services and practical seminars that support the global
fashion and design industries.
