Stoll China Trend Collection Spring / Summer 2010

Theme: SHADES

This year the Stoll China Trend Collection SS 2010 lives on near nuances and colour shades that seem to go softly together to a casual mood, which finds its origin in the water colour paintings of Paul Klee and Marc Chagall. The general feel of a summer road movie with a fresh breeze in the hair is an invitation to get into the clothes...

Different blue and grey tones are giving the base, supported by clear white and bright violet. The fresh green colour is the contrast in this muted range.

The materials used in this summer collection embrace that soft, comfortable feel. The selected basic cotton and the fine cashmere cotton quality are combined with an ultra fine transparent viscose blend. Sporty stretch qualities support shrinking elements in the garments; a linen-silk blend with its lively surface enhances the iridescent look as does the printed yarn in three colour shades.

Sophisticated technical effects and loose, open shapes are especially meaningful for the collection. Bleached, scratched and stitched optics show the direction of the denim theme that surfaces in various details.

Special technical effects have been developed for this collection such as:

- Special shaping

- Different stitch length - Power tension settings (PTS)

- Individual stitch selection

- Extended loop optic by structure

Special shaping

The integrated fitted body shape - dart effect has been done by layering technique in right knitting sequence. By this it is possible to create any kind of applications, such as pocket flaps or belt loops.

Different stitch length (PTS)

This technical tool has been used to transform a chess pattern in a subtle way. Combined with a plating effect coming from the denim theme a different loop length gives the squared colour appearance.

With the Stoll technology – Power Tension Settings (PTS), different variations in course length between the loops can be achieved. In the picture you see it clearly.

It can be applied for different ways of pattern and designs to achieve modern and interesting detail appearance, such as in the stripe variation in the following picture.

Individual stitch selection

This is not only the way to reach this kind of “shading” effect. By individual stitch selection you can extend loop length as much to differ to next to ones. In the picture you see this applied in the polo-shirt which gives a diagonal line optic in the body panel.

Extended loop optic by structure

Double needle bed structures like Punto di Roma, Milano rib and Pique require much longer lengths which give the same result as above. In the case of the collection this mens jacket gets this optic by using double bed structure like the single pique detail which shows the extended loop.

In addition the jacket-knitted on Stoll multi gauges, is changing from all needle technique to 1 x 1 knitting technique to show the contrast between the coarse and fine stitches. This gives the garment a structure volume effect and at the end a stronger statement.

These technical effects are a selection among other techniques used in this summer collection. Besides this plating, float effects, Intarsia with more than 10 feeders, and applications have been combined to underline the collection idea.

Modern and advanced details stand for developed techniques in wearable but fashionable garments.
