18 November 2009, London - This year's Texprint new textile
design stars received more commissions and freelance work than ever before
following successful exhibitions of their work starting in London, moving to
Paris and then Hong Kong.
In particular Indigo, held in Paris from 15 to 18 September,
2009, was surprisingly positive, with sales of 132 designs (over 30% up on
2008) to the largest group of clients than ever before (up 50% up from 2008).
Although the number of job offers made was down on last year, the number of
freelance commissions received was up over 100%, reflecting the uncertain mood
of the industry. Many commissions and job offers are made following initial
contact at the show.
Major names visiting and buying at Texprint included Diane
von Furstenberg, who attended personally with her team, Calvin Klein, Hugo
Boss, Guy Laroche, Liberty Art Fabrics, WWD, Custo Barcelona, H&M, New
Look, Next, Victoria’s Secret, Oscar de la Renta, Missoni and Jaeger.
The six special prize winners presented their work at
Interstoff Asia Essential, Hong Kong, from 7 to 9 October. The response from
professional visitors was also very encouraging, with a record total of 246
contacts made, more than double those of last year.
