8 December 2009. Shanghai - Stoll Fashion & Technology
International Center, Shanghai (F&T Center), started the development of its
China Trend Collection back in 2005. The trend collection is released twice a
year with the aim of combining the latest knitting technology with new
approaches in design. The Stoll China Trend Collection AW 2010/2011 is the 10th
such collection to be released.
The 1st trend collection created was Spring/Summer 2006 and during
the past 5 years, the Center has made great efforts contributing trend focused
design concepts and advanced knitting technology to the Chinese market giving inspiration
to local designers, merchandisers, buyers, brands and trading companies.
From the earliest stage of market research, generating the
collection theme, yarn selection and testing to creating the design, sampling,
prototype and revision, the F&T Center handles the complete development
process in house. A well equipped workshop with a wide range of machine gauges
makes this possible.
The result of this close cooperation between Stoll designers
and experienced knitting technicians are garments that are suitable for the
demands of the market.
“The patterns, structures, even the styles could easily be integrated
into your own product,” the F&T Center says, adding: “The China Collection is focusing more on the
Asian market as well as on commercial aspects and the idea is to come closer to
the customers, to attract them and let them understand products that can be
knitted”.
In addition to trend forecasting, Stoll F&T Center also
pays close attention to yarn selection. Here, Stoll cooperates with numerous
yarn suppliers to achieve innovative yarn concepts and also aims to support and
promote Chinese spinners. Stoll says that the yarn suppliers appreciate the
chance to be a part of the collection as Stoll can pass them first-hand
information on experience with using their yarns and help them to make new
developments.
Each collection is presented at the SpinExpo Shanghai and
the F&T Center says it has now become an institution for visitors to come
to the Stoll booth to have a close look at the latest collection including the
photo brochures with their technical descriptions. The daily catwalks during
the exhibition also attract a big audience, the F&T Center says.
All China collections can be found on www.stollpattern.com and an addition benefit
to Stoll customers is that they can download the style pictures and programs
directly from the website. Guests can also gain access to the patterns simply
by registering.
According to the F&T Center, the Stoll China Trend
Collection has been well accepted by the market and has become one of the trend
indicators in the knitting industry. Stoll will continue to follow its motto ‘Design
to inspire’, building a bridge between design and technology, the Center says.
