24 February 2010, London – Invista, says it is taking a
concerted stance against trademark misuse on behalf of its brands. The owner of the Lycra fibre brand is to
launch an advertising campaign to reinforce the importance of protecting the
value of its trademarks.
Following an announcement of two Italian court rulings
against importers of counterfeit goods bearing Invista branded names, the
company, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and
fibres, has developed two advertisements for trade magazines worldwide.
The first advertisement displays a security lock with the
official Lycra fibre brand logo and the second advertisement depicts a
knee-high motive accompanied by the trademark symbol. Both advertisements communicate the slogan
‘Protecting Lycra fibre from identity theft’ with impactful supporting copy.
Max Wiesendanger, Executive Vice President for Invista’s
apparel business in Europe and South Asia said, “At Invista, we take trademark
infringement very seriously and it’s important for us to be proactive as well
as reactive in demonstrating our commitment to protecting our brands. Our bold, new advertising campaign confirms
that, as a business, we will take the necessary action to ensure our brands are
not threatened by counterfeits.”
