2 March 2010, Los Angeles - US based Buhler Quality Yarns is
to launch Lenzing’s MicroTencel, a 0.8 denier lyocell microfiber at Globaltex
which opens later today in Los Angeles. The new development which will be
manufactured in Austria and will be available in the United States through
Buhler Quality Yarns will also be showcased at the LA Textile Show from 15-17
March. MicroTencel will be first launched in seamless and circular knits and will
be marketed under Buhler Quality Yarns 3B’s: Best yarns, Beautiful fabrics and
a Better footprint.
“MicroTencel has the inherent performance features of
strength, moisture transfer and the natural inhibition of bacterial growth
while providing superior softness and comfort. The new yarn, available in
20/1’s to 60/1’s, includes finer count yarns than have been previously
available,” says Buhler Quality Yarns.
Buhler Quality Yarns says it will use the newly developed yarn
counts for the development of stronger lightweight fabrics and entry into new
markets and will provide technical support to help create beautiful fabrics
from construction through wet processing.
Buhler says that MicroTencel is in the forefront of
sustainable fibre technology as it is made of Forestry Stewardship Council
(FSC) certified pulp from Eucalyptus wood and utilizes a non-toxic solvent in a
proprietary closed loop process that has won environmental awards. It is
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and can be dyed using less dyestuffs, water and
sodium for a better footprint throughout the entire development process, the
company says.
