2 June 2010, Florence - Pitti Immagine Filati 67, a leading international
event for industrial knitting yarns is being held at the Fortezza da Basso in
Florence from 6 to 8 July 2010. A research lab and trend observatory, Pitti
Filati aims to present excellence in yarns to its audience of buyers and
designers for the major fashion brands that come to Florence looking for new
creative inputs.
This edition of Pitti Filati will be featuring previews of
knitting yarn collections for the 2011-2012 fall/winter season and in order to have
a more international flavour, organisers Pitti Immagine have put together a
promotional plan with Toscana Promozione. A delegation of American buyers will
be present at this edition, representing some of the most important companies
and fashion groups in the United States. They will be viewing the new
collections from exhibitors and visiting the new Spazio Ricerca Move.
Spazio Ricerca
According to the organisers, evolution is the key to the
structure and layout of the Spazio Ricerca and the Fashion at Work area (Lower
Level, Main Pavilion), the increasingly powerful ‘centre of gravity’ for
everything that’s related to creativity. Move is the title of this edition’s
Spazio Ricerca, staged by fashion designer Angelo Figus and knitwear expert
Nicola Miller who, in the settings designed by Alessandro Moradei will present
the new trends for fall-winter 2011-2012.
Move is said to be an energetic and visionary call to get
things, people and ideas moving again to recover that feeling of amazement that
comes with discovering new places, people and cultures. “Moving on water, on
the ground, in the air – is the way to discover the world, near and far and
also the strength to launch ideas and project them into the future. A trip
across the continents that explores their contemporary sides through the faces
of the people, their places, and the things they use – be they new or
traditional. The trip across the trip and the trip across the continents: two
macro-themes that lead to the development of new atmospheres,” Pitti Filati
says.
Prima – Moda Tessuto
Prima – Moda Tessuto, now in its third edition, is a show produced
by the PratoTrade consortium in synergy with Pitti Immagine and an event that
was immediately hailed by the international fashion community as a total
innovation, organisers say. “Prima has a jump on the trade calendar presenting
textile collections for the 2011-2012 fall/winter season early in July – since
it is held together will Pitti Filati – (from 6 to 8 July, on the Upper Lever
of the Main Pavilion at the Fortezza da Basso). The event is designed to
present a complete overview of fashion’s basic materials – textiles and yarns,”
PratoTrade explains.
Vintage Selection n.16
Vintage Selection, the fair featuring vintage clothing,
accessories and design objects, will also be back at the Stazione Leopolda in
Florence from 6 to 10 July 2010. Held concurrently with Pitti Filati 67 it is,
organisers say, the not-to-miss event for cool hunters and style bureaus from
major international fashion houses, and a must-see for the huge audience of
collectors and enthusiasts.
Vintage Selection is
a research lab that looks to the fashions of the past and is also a rich
archive that today’s designers turn to for new ideas. Once again the event will
be divided into two sections – Luxury Collections and the less formal
Sportswear Collections. Organisers say that given last January’s success the
Happy Kilo area will be back – and open to all exhibitors. It’s a temporary
store where selected items will be sold by weight. Vintage Selection is
produced by Stazione Leopolda Srl in cooperation with A.N.G.E.L.O.
Feel the Yarn
At this edition of Pitti Filati a new project called Feel
the Yarn will be presented. It will be a competition for new candidates in the
design of knitwear and the first ‘master’ specialized in textiles and yarns. It
is an initiative by Pitti Immagine Filati, Consorzio Promozione Filati
(Association of Textile Promotion) and Toscana Promozione, economic development
and promotion agency for the Tuscany Region.
