24 June 2008, Kinross, Scotland - Todd & Duncan’s new ‘out of the blue’ cashmere collection for
autumn/winter 2009/10 has undertones of revolution – both in colour and
organic development. Inspired by a new colourist, the season unveils 57
brand new colours and for the first time unveils a wide range of new
organic colours, the Eden Collection, and a breakthrough in ‘white
cashmere’, spearheading a new direction for the world’s leading
cashmere business.
The Colours
The new autumn/winter 2009/10 palette for Cashmere 2/28Nm launches 57
brand new colours within a collection of 165 stock service colours,
embracing the unique skill and originality that underlines Todd &
Duncan cashmere. Tradition and innovation have merged into the most
complete collection of precious solids partnered with the deepest,
richest melanges ever offered - the indispensable tool for those
looking for excellence in cashmere colour.
Two principal tones underlie the collection: the greys – shading into
light and opaque pastels; then the naturals – initially powdery and
chalk-like, suddenly turning cold. Amid these earthy hues with feelings
of lightness and dustiness emerges a range of diffused colours - whose
strength explodes into extremely opaque or very bright colours. Flashes
of transcending light bursts forth, injecting energy and vitality.
From the amazingly pure white of Niveous to the creamy tone of Antique
White, this expanded whites offering is expressed in a whole range of
graduated shades transcending from ice-like through to ivory hues.
Browns merge into reds and purples creating modern, noble, and almost
aristocratic nuances. The greens are urban greens; altered by blues and
greys as nature transforms itself. By developing thousands of deeply
suffused hues the blues evolve into grey. This collection represents
the ultimate expression of colour fusion, combining versatility with an
unexpected but extremely stimulating offering of original colour
combinations.
The New Eden Collection – Organic Cashmere Collection
Responding to global environmental demands, Todd & Duncan is
launching the next stage of its organic cashmere initiative following
the announcement earlier this year of the introduction of cashmere yarn
made from 100 per cent organic fibre, sourced under an exclusive
agreement from Qinghai, a province in North West China. Organic
cashmere fibre is now being coloured with Global Organic Textile
Standard (GOTS) approved dyes in a wide range of pioneering shades
which Todd & Duncan will use as the springboard to introduce
organic colour across its entire colour palette over the coming years.
