The ASBCI brings together the clothing industry from fibre manufacture to garment manufacture, retail and aftercare.

ASBCI activities include Technical seminars, publications and technical visits; a large student section with its own conference, seminar and visits, as well as an annual design competition and an award for the best technical/commercial dissertation, as well as many other activities.
