Mayer & Cie discusses new circular knitting applications at Techtextil

Mayer & Cie. presented its latest technologies at this year’s Techtextil. © Mayer & Cie. Mayer & Cie., a leading circular knitting machinery manufacturer, has presented its latest technologies at this year’s Techtextil trade fair, which concluded in Frankfurt on 12 May 2017 with record numbers of both visitors and exhibitors.

“The mechanical engineering company’s stand did brisk business, with many trade visitors, especially from Germany, Italy, France and Turkey, wanting to know more about the uses of circular knitting machines for technical textiles,” the company reports.

A new trend in Frankfurt was the use of circular knitting machine fabric as an upper material for shoes, Thomas Zizmann, Mayer & Cie. sales area manager confirmed. “Shoe uppers are an increasingly important topic in circular knitting. We’ve talked to many people at Techtextil about this,” he said.

Mayer & Cie. has for some time been a major player in the manufacture of high-quality mattress cover fabrics. Its portfolio includes a range of machines specially designed for this purpose, such as OVJA 1.6 EM HS or OVJA 1.6 EE. “Another area in which Mayer & Cie. gets full score is producing spacer fabrics, which may be used for a wide variety of applications, from underwear to diving suits,” the manufacturer reports. The company serves this application with its D4 2.2 II and OV 3.2 QCe machines.

Another use is mentioned by Michael A. Tuschak, in charge of sales and marketing of Mayer & Cie.’s spinning and knitting technology spinitsystems. “Single Jersey is suitable for use as a carrier and base material for laminates and technical prints, for example,” he said. “This is an area in which the Spinit 3.0 E stands a good chance of doing well due to the process shortening and savings potential that the machine offers.”
