Filling Pieces ‘Strike’ with KnitwearLab

Dutch footwear label Filling Pieces, have collaborated once again with the Netherlands-based knit design studio, KnitwearLab. Filling Pieces’ latest collection features the Strike Arch Runner, a tonal knit and soft nubuck sneaker with a jacquard knit sock-like ankle support.

Founded in 2009 by architecture graduate Guillaume Philibert, Filling Pieces aim to bridge the gap between streetwear and high-end fashion with handmade, utilitarian footwear, made from fine Italian materials by craftsman in Portugal.

 

Filling Pieces describes the new product. ‘The High Strike Arch Runner Cross Knit uses a novel jacquard knitting technique to create fully knitted uppers that are composed of five different stitching patterns. The uppers have been 3D knitted to reinforce areas of high stress and to allow for flexibility and breathability in other positions. The has flexible nubuck lace stays and heel quarter which helps to secure the foot within the shoe without limiting movement’

KnitwearLab are a knit design studio based in the Netherlands. Using the latest Stoll machinery, they design and develop innovative knitted textiles and products for designers and brands, working with the likes of Viktor & Rolf, Peet Dullaert and Maison the Faux. Founder, Thijs Verhaar, also designs and produces his own eye-catching range of geometric accessories at the studio.

What we particularly like about the Filling Pieces product, alongside the innovative use of knit, is their sensitive and thoughtful use of colour. True to their concept, Filling Pieces make sports-led footwear in colourways more suited to the high-fashion market. We love the army green colourway, a blend of faded canvas greens complimented by pink taupes and pale stormy blue.
