Christian Eschler AG may be a small family owned company but the Swiss high-tech warp and weft knitted fabric manufacturer’s last winter season was a big success. Eschler has a long tradition of producing high-tech fabrics for race garments in skiing and the winter season 2010-2011 finished with the Bühler based company top of the medals table.

At the FIS World Ski Championships in the Bavarian resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, no fewer than 25 skiers climbed onto the podium wearing suits made from Eschler fabrics.

And at the Nordic World Championships in Oslo 32 medals were awarded to athletes in Eschler race suits and in two of the disciplines Eschler achieved a score of 100% with all Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping winners dressed in Eschler.

“It was another extremely successful season for us,” says CEO Peter Eschler. “It was great to see so many athletes wearing our products on the podium. This is what drives us and motivates the entire team to continuously work on optimizing the fabrics.”

“The development of high performance racing fabrics is a very complex process and involves a lot of research and testing. The fabrics have to provide a minimum of wind resistance, yet at the same time they must fulfil the strict safety standard set by the international federations. The current research and development process ends in June – then the fabrics for new season enters the final production stage,” Mr. Eschler explains.

“For the winter season 2011 the focus is set on exciting layer e1 news: Eschler will be producing compression material that supports the muscle work with integrated carbon fibres for more cooling and a three dimensional moisture management.”

According to Eschler, the top international brands that equip the national teams with racing gear rely on Eschler for various reasons: “The brand has an extremely long tradition in developing high-end performance gear. And it still produces in Switzerland. Product development and manufacturing are located in the same building. As a small company Eschler also has the advantage of being flexible. It can act and react quickly, and is vertical, so that it has full control over each step of the production and can guarantee a very strict quality control,” Peter Eschler says.
