The Japanese company will showcase products that it says respond to increasing demands for clothing that functions as both high-performance sportswear and comfortable daily-use, multipurpose wear.

The products will be shown at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2012 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, U.S.A. from January 19 to 22, and Ispo Munich 2012 at the Neue Messe München in Munich, Germany from January 29 to February 1.

Teijin says all of the materials are environmentally friendly items that can be recycled with its Eco Circle closed-loop recycling system for turning used polyester into new fibres that offer the purity and quality of petroleum-derived fibres.

Comfort Knit - Type DL

Included in Teijin's exhibit is its Type DL- Comfort Knit a knitted polyester fabric which offers a combination of softness, durability and snag resistance, plus a number of useful functions such as stretching, ultraviolet protection and anti-transparency. It is also said to have outstanding wind-blocking properties due to its dense, flat knitted surface.

Type EP for odour control

Teijin will also show its Type EP polyester yarns and fabrics.  "Mildly acidic healthy skin can gain alkalinity due to sweating (summer) or drying (winter). If either condition is prolonged, odours or stains can be produced by bacteria.  Teijin Fibers' modified polyester polymer achieves an intrinsically hydrophobic (neutral) state for localized hydrophilic properties and mild acidity on the fibre's surface," Teijin says.

"As a result, the fabric maintains its mildly acidic pH level even when the wearer is perspiring. This highly durable fabric satisfies needs for value-added clothing offering properties such as gentleness to skin, odour prevention and resistance to bacteria and stains," the company says.

Eco Storm

Eco Storm is a lightweight, high-performance material, both waterproof and breathable, which is made from recycled polyester and laminated with a thin but highly durable polyester film. Eco Storm is said to be ideal for a wide variety of outdoor clothing, including shell jackets, sportswear and raingear.

Teijin is a global technology-driven group operating in eight main fields: aramid fibres, carbon fibres & composites, polyester fibres, plastics, films, medical & pharmaceuticals, fibres products marketing and IT businesses. Teijin Limited, the holding company for the Teijin Group, is listed on the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges.
