Exhibitors from the main textile manufacturing countries – China, South Korea, India, Turkey and Pakistan – are underlining their interest in the European market, which, with the USA, represents the strongest demand.

“We are delighted with this excellent performance. The situation in the textile and fashion industry is more favourable and is encouraging weavers to attend Texworld Paris. Our selection committee is very happy with the large number of applications received, with proposals of higher and higher quality,” commented Michael Scherpe, CEO of Messe Frankfurt France.

Promoting Indian cotton

Cotton is the material in most demand at Texworld. It represents an aspect of the fair, which is undergoing constant development and which will welcome Texprocil, the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, with almost 35 exhibitors. This body is responsible for promoting Indian cotton producers, but it is also helping silk manufacturers, lace makers and embroiderers to exhibit at Texworld.

Indian cotton producers are recognised and appreciated by European buyers for the quality and variety of their range for men, women and children: eco-cotton, the Better Cotton Initiative, printed cotton, cotton voile, denim, and cotton fabrics for shirting and bottom pieces.

With output estimated at 6.74 million tonnes, India, currently the world’s second-largest producer of cotton, will overtake China and take first place next year, according to the Cotton Association of India.

Young talents

Young international designers are expected to attend the February edition of the event. In particular, Texworld will host the Frankfurt Style Award. This competition, well established in German speaking countries, has been promoting young designers since 2007.

Sharp, eclectic, contemporary, responsible style will be presented by university and international fashion and design school graduates.
