Invista is working with India’s Exim Knits to develop fabrics with Lycra fibre that possess the dual qualities of excellent recovery and enhanced elongation. Exim Knits Pvt. Ltd., which has stste of the art production facilities, is a manufacturer and exporter of knit, woven and organic cotton products which was established in India 21 years ago.

Combining Invista’s technological expertise and Exim Knits’ state-of-the-art facilities, the customer-centric fabric innovation is said to cater to all apparel industry segments. The single jersey-knitted fabric comprises of a blend of cotton, or cotton synthetics, and Lycra fibre.

The fabric innovation aims to deliver three key attributes that Invista says are most important to consumers—freedom of movement, comfort and durability. These fabrics meet stringent Lycra fibre certification standards, adding an advantage for garment manufacturers, brands and retailers who also benefit from featuring the free Lycra fibre hang tag with each of their garments.

Avinash Chandra, Invista’s marketing head for South Asia, said:

“We believe that customer-focused innovations are key drivers for the growth of the textile and apparel industry. We are happy to lend our technological expertise to Exim Knits to develop world-class fabrics with Lycra fibre that would add another dimension to the category of stretch garments. Led by our technical and market development specialist, KK Shathyanarayanan, the fabrics have been devised to cater to the textile industry challenges and requirements. The capability of the garments retaining the required fit and shape over extended periods of time, and numerous washes, is the hallmark of its excellent quality.”

P. Padmanabhan, Director, Exim Knits commented:

“The consumer aspires for garments with the best quality fabrics catering to their need of flexibility and durability. Our production capabilities and operational efficiencies combined with Invista’s technological know-how, weaves well to serve this purpose. When subjected to a stretch test for an hour by an independent research and testing laboratory, the fabric displayed length and width recovery of 93% and 92.1% and a length and width growth of 1.1% and 2.4% respectively. This innovation is a remarkable feat that ensures longevity of the garments.”
