Following the successful debut of the combined textile machinery show in 2008, the joint owners of ITMA ASIA + CITME announced today that they would be extending their cooperation for a second show in 2010. The exhibition will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 22 to 26 June 2010.

Show owners - CEMATEX (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers), and their Chinese partners the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC) - have re-appointed Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and MP International Pte Ltd as the exhibition organizer and co-organizer respectively.  JTMA (Japan Textile Machinery Association) will continue to be a special partner of the ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition.

Edward Roberts, President of CEMATEX, said: “From the outset, the vision of combining two established shows into a leading-edge platform was to offer textile machinery manufacturers a cost-effective exhibition of the highest quality in Asia.

“We are delighted that the strong debut of the combined show last year has clearly validated our decision.  In today’s difficult economic market, it is even more critical for businesses to consolidate resources and we hope that we can help our industry members to focus their energies on this one major exhibition in Asia.”

Gao Yong, President of CTMA, concurred: “ITMA ASIA + CITME is a milestone event for the global textile industry. It epitomises the spirit of co-operation among major textile machinery manufacturers. Moving forward, we shall be working closely to ensure that the combined show will continue to be a beneficial platform for sellers and buyers in this important region.”

The show owners and organisers are confident that with the experience already gained by the team in 2008, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010 is well placed to rise to the challenges of the latest tough business environment.

The first combined show in 2008 welcomed the participation of 1,368 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions and more than 80,000 trade visitors from 96 countries and regions.  The event was sold out even before the official deadline, occupying all 126,500 square metres of the 11 halls in the SNIEC venue.

Organisers say that one of the key features of the ITMA ASIA + CITME show is the importance placed on the protection of exhibitors’ intellectual property rights. An active IPR Office will be available within the exhibition halls to help exhibitors take action against IPR infringement.  During the 2008 show 26 IPR complaints were received and handled during the show and, where patent infringements were upheld, the relevant products were removed from the show.  In addition, two companies who infringed the show’s regulations were cautioned and have been banned from exhibiting at all future ITMA and CITME branded shows.
