Mrs. Kazuyo Shima, beloved wife of Dr. Masahiro Shima, President of Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd., passed away at age 75 on 6th May 2013.

Steven Oo, an exciting young designer whose post-modern knitwear was featured in a 2010 New York Times review by fashion columnist Suzy Menkes, will bring his story to Spinexpo with a concise collection of specially-designed pieces to be displayed at the New York show in July. With a self-professed love of “simple, high-quality yarns with a great hand,” Mr. Oo’s Spinexpo collection will utilize yarns from exhibiting worsted spinners such as Ningbo Consinee, Novetex, Südwolle, Xinao Group, and Zhejiang Zhongding.
Leading computerized knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki of Wakayama, Japan has announced it will exhibit at ITM Texpo Eurasia 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey, which takes place from 29th May to 1st June.
European textile and clothing companies are looking further afield for growth, according to a new report from the global business information company Textiles Intelligence called World Textile and Apparel Trade and Production Trends: the EU.
According to the latest International Textile Machinery Shipment Statistics (ITMSS) published this week by the ITMF (International Textile Manufacturers Federation) shipments of new textile machinery fell in 2012 in most segments compared with 2011, although a new record was set for shipments of large diameter circular knitting machines.
