Lenzing announces 10% increase in fibre price

Tencel ActiveThe Lenzing Group, world leader in man-made cellulose fibres, is to increase its fibre prices at beginning of 2011 by at least 10%, depending on the product. Price increases will take place in Lenzing’s Textile Fibers as well as in Nonwovens businesses.

The company said today that the decision was necessitated by the recent strong rise in raw material prices, in particular for dissolving pulp and chemicals required for the production of viscose, modal and Tencel fibres.

Lenzing emphasizes that the company had managed to keep the prices for its specialty fibres Lenzing Modal and Tencel stable throughout 2010, despite booming cotton and polyester fibre prices from mid-year onwards. Lenzing says it intends to pursue a balanced pricing policy in the interest of long-term customer relationships in the future. The company considers itself a reliable and predictable partner of all its customers throughout the textile value chain.
