The mtex – International Trade Fair & Symposium for Textiles and Composites in Vehicle Manufacturing is the international information and presentation forum for managers from all the vehicle construction sectors. Representatives from the car and commercial vehicle industries, railways and railway carriage equipment suppliers, the shipbuilding industry, the aerospace engineering industry and suppliers to these sectors will discover that the mtex is the ideal communications platform.

The 2nd “mtex” is being held at Messe Chemnitz from 3 - 5 June 2008. A total of 150 exhibitors from ten countries are expected at Messe Chemnitz in June 2008.

Outstanding prospects on the market

The trend is continuing and the German textile industry is still playing an important role on the global market. The textile industry, measured by its turnover and the number of employees, continues to be one of the largest industrial sectors, even in Germany. Technical textiles account for approximately 40 percent of German textile production and experts expect huge growth opportunities in this market over the next few years. Technical textiles are a major growth factor in the component supplies industry for vehicle manufacturing. By deliberately using technical textiles, OEMs can achieve important goals more easily and more efficiently like weight reduction, cost savings and increased passenger protection. Germany is viewed as the leading market in this young sector. The same is true of the global market. An export share of more than 40% is proof of this strength. Global growth of turnover in the component supplies industry is forecast to be 42% by 2010. This is opening up very interesting prospects and opportunities for cooperation arrangements both at home and abroad, particularly for medium-sized companies in the textile sector.

mtex as an opportunity

Event- und Messegesellschaft Chemnitz mbH has developed the “mtex” especially for this market and its partners and it hosted this specialist event, which ideally fits into the dynamic market for technical textiles in vehicle manufacturing, for the first time in October 2006. The success of the premiere has underlined the concept: the “mtex” can pinpoint prospects and trends on the international market, support companies in developing their business sectors and provide a suitable contact forum for business partners.

Chemnitz has a plenty to offer

With its traditions as a textile and automobile manufacturing centre and its many research and industrial facilities, Chemnitz was predestined to host the showpiece for this constantly growing market. Chemnitz has always been a meeting place for regular events in the technical textiles sector. It is worth mentioning the Bautex fair, which has been a success for a number of years, and the Mobiltex fair held in June 2004 for the very first time. The “mtex” fits into this chronicle of specialist, high-quality, successful events related to technical textiles. “Textiles on the move“ – make sure that you are there and do not miss the boat!
