New Eco-applicator soft coating solution from Monforts

Leading manufacturer of machines and ranges for the dyeing and finishing of woven and knitted fabrics, A. Monforts Textilmaschinen, is to introduce its new improved soft coating solution at the leading technical textiles show Techtextil, which runs from 24-26 May 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The new Eco-applicator is said to eliminate the need for a wet-on-wet padder ensuring significant energy savings and reduced quantities of softeners. Using trough and roller techniques, the Eco-applicator applies a liquid coating to a single side of the fabric; both sides; or applies a liquid to one side of the fabric and a different liquid to the other side.

The new process is available in a number of ranges suitable for felt finishes, coated materials and medical textiles and new finishing effects achievable on the Montex stenter include water repellency, flame retardancy, effects for new safety cloths and insect repellency.

When used for clothing applications, the soft coating process can, for example, apply soil-or water-repellency to one side of the fabric and softener or water absorption, respectively, to the second side.

According to Monforts, compared with a padder operation, the initial moisture content of 60% is reduced to 40% using the Monforts soft coating process; ensuring a reduction in drying times and reduced energy costs.

Monforts will also display a wide range of technical fabrics finished on the company’s Montex stenter and will also place emphasis on other energy saving solutions available with the latest generation of Monforts dyeing and finishing units.  These include integrated heat recovery units and exhaust air cleaning units to reduce energy consumption and clean the exhaust air of thermo finishing ranges.

A team of Monforts technologists will be in attendance at Techtextil to offer technical assistance and advice.
