Nylstar takeover secures Puntiblond future

The Spanish Nylon 6.6 producer has taken over the running of the Puntiblond knitted fabrics facility in Sant Pere de Vilamajor in Barcelona securing 40 jobs.

The deal will help Nylstar extend its premium sports and fashion fabrics ranges, with fabrics made at Vilamajor retaining the well known qualities of Meryl fabrics such as comfort, stretch, moisture management, sun protection, dust and bacteria repellence.

Under the agreement Nylstar’s Meryl fabrics will operate the Puntiblond plant at

Sant Pere de Vilamajor in Barcelona from 1st May 2015, retain Puntiblond's customers and guarantee the future of 40 jobs at the plant which has a monthly production capacity of 100 tonnes.

Meryl Fabrics is Nylstar's fabric division and is lead by Raimon Pagés. The company is dedicated to producing quality fabrics for fashion and sportswear markets.

In July 2013 Nylstar announced plans to double its turnover in the next 5 years with an annual growth rate of 20% to increase its production capacity by a total of 10,000 tons.

In November 2013 the company announced it would invest more than Euro 1.2 million to enable it to significantly increase its annual production capacity from 15,000 to 17,000 tons. The investment comprised the installation of 21 Barmag winding machines that were to increase productivity and help reduce waste considerably.
