Abstract of EP1942216

The invention relates to a weft knitting machine with a movable yarn guide that can prevent damage to a fabric due to undesired catch of a yarn. Since a forward movement amount of a movable yarn guide (1) to a needle bed gap (5) is reduced near a position where a yarn is fed from a yarn feeding port (10a), the yarn can be fed smoothly and the catch of the yarn by a slider (7b, 8b) can be prevented from occurring. Since a forward movement amount of the movable yarn guide (1) to the needle bed gap (5) is increased near a position where the yarn is received by a hook (7c, 8c), the yarn can be securely caught by the hook (7c, 8c). When a needle main body (7a, 8a) is pulled into a needle bed (3, 4) and a knitted loop is formed by the hook (7c, 8c) and a front edge (6b) of a sinker (6), a guide portion (1a) at the front end is driven so as to be moved backward from the needle bed gap (5) to a position where the sinker (6) forms a sinker loop. Therefore, a lower end of the guide portion (1a) capable of securely forming the sinker loop at a stitch determination position of the sinker (6) is extended to cover a tongue (8d), thereby preventing the yarn from being caught.
