Samson Hosiery, one of the oldest sock manufacturers in the UK specialising in football, rugby and hockey socks is working flat out to meet current demand.

The Manchester based company produces quality socks at its own factory and aims to match prices of imported products. The company says it is also able to meet demand almost instantly with stock always available.

According to a recent report in Football Trade Directory (FTD), such is demand at the moment Samson is working flat out 24/7 which is good news given the overall economic climate.

"In these days of so much imported product it is good to see one firm at least is flying the flag for the UK. There is an undercurrent in the sports market place that the dash to China and the Far East has it's own problems, with long lead in times and poorer quality offsetting any price differential," the report said.

"One of our main strengths is our ability to turn orders around quickly - literally within 24 hours in most cases. If clients want a bespoke sock making we can also do this in a short space of time, using our own high tech design studio and embroidery machines," MD Mustafa Ashraf explained.

"We have over 20 machines working flat out at the moment but we are always on the lookout for new business. We are happy to do small orders or supply wholesale to bigger customers."

"We have a long track record and have worked with some of the biggest sports brands in the UK and we have supplied socks for over half the Premier League and Football League clubs. We pride ourselves in the quality of our product. So much imported product is not to the highest standard we would expect."

Operating since 1981, Samson has 10 employees and serves 1,850 retail and trade customers and 12 UK and major international sports brands with a vast range of football, rugby and hockey socks.
