Stoll to exhibit at Knitwear Solutions

Flat knitting machine builder Stoll will exhibit at Knitwear Solutions, the ‘show within a show’, for flat knits launched by Premiere Vision in September this year. The show takes place at the Parc d'Expositions, Paris Nord, Villepinte from 12-14 February 2013.

Stoll has been a global player in flatbed knitting for nearly 140 years and the industry leader, whose knitting machines are exclusively manufactured in Germany, exports its technology for manufacturing creative knits throughout the world. Stoll knitting machines cover the entire scope of flatbed knit applications, right up to integrated or complete garment knitting.

Knitwear Solutions: a second promising session

“Knitwear Solutions, the platform dedicated to creative knits, will be holding its second edition with already 5 new companies confirmed: a cutting-edge and creative selection of knitters, spinners, knit studios (at Indigo) and a knitting machinery manufacturer. This offer rounds out the Première Vision offer, and brings tangible proposals to designers and buyers specialising in flatbed knits,” organisers say.

“In September 2012, with 26 exhibitors, the first edition of this area at Première Vision was a major success!”

Other new participants at Knitwear Solutions in February are:

Alphatex Knitting Co. LTD. (China)

This Chinese knitter manufactures meticulous knits, especially in fine gauges, for menswear and women’s wear. It has the machinery and know-how to produce intarsias with complex patterns, fully fashioned knits, sophisticated finishing, and blends of materials. Its Beijing factory has a production capacity of 30,000 pieces/month, and 20,000/month at its factory in Ningxia. The company exports 70% of its production to Europe and the US, supplying high-end and luxury clients.

A. Ferreira & Filhos SA (Portugal)

Founded in 1980, this Portuguese knitter is a longstanding and historic player in the knit sector. The company is said to use coarse gauges (3, 5, 7), as well as fine gauges (12 and 14), with remarkable expertise in fully-fashioned and integrated knits. A mid-sized company with 60 employees, it produces 300,000 pieces/year, primarily for major European brands. The company’s strengths are said to be a combination of know-how, proximity and responsiveness.

Parrillu’s (Spain)

Based in Catalonia, Parrillu’s is a Spanish knitter specialised in luxury ready-to-wear. Its expertise enables it to manufacture highly creative knitwear for major French and Italian fashion brands. The company uses all gauges right up to the very finest (18), with 3-D knits, stitch for stitch linking, and high-end printing and finishing.

Tongxiang Jiayu Fashion Co LTD. (China)

In a mere ten years Tongxiang Jiayu Fashion has become a major knitter, exporting its products to Europe and North America. A specialist in fine gauge knits (12 to 18), the company manufactures around one million pieces for companies in the mid- or top-range. It has real expertise in knit fantasy products, whether over-printed or over-embroidered.

In a dedicated area especially adapted to the presentation of the flatbed knit offer, a select group of manufacturers will show their creative collections and know-how for Spring Summer Specific fashion information – “a fashion forum to inspire you showcase knit creativity”.

When leading European fabrics show Première Vision (PV) announced in February that it was launching Knitwear Solutions, a platform for flat bed knitted fabrics – most of us were surprised but mainly in agreement that there was the need for such a ‘show within a show’.

For many years PV has been dominated by Europe's top weavers but now with knits becoming stronger in fashion, many circular and warp knitted fabric producers exhibit at the show. February’s PV show was a good example, with a large area of the floor space being given over to knitted fabric producers showing intimate apparel, sportswear and outerwear fabrics. True knitwear (sweaters - generally knitted on flat-bed or flat knitting machines) however, has never been properly represented until now.

According to PV, Knitwear Solutions was born from the observation that fashion brands are developing comprehensive collections with knits playing a central role. Knitwear represents about 20% to 40% of the product offer in ready-to wear brands, PV says.
