Intimate Apparel

The Institute carried out its skin compatibility test on randomly selected samples from the collection to confirm that no cytotoxic substances leach out of the sample materials. As a result, Tianhai was awarded the Skin Friendly declaration for the lace collection.

“Intimate apparel is like a second skin for consumers, as it is the base layer for all their other clothes,” said Sabina Fu, Sales Manager at Tianhai Lace. “Our lace forms part of intimate apparel garments worn by women all over the world. We want to ensure that they are comfortable and that customers don’t have to worry about any harm done to their skin by wearing products made using our lace.”

Tianhai Lace

Tianhai Lace is a large vertical textile manufacturer established in 1988, specialising in design and manufacture of high quality warp knitted lace for intimate apparel, bridal gowns and evening dresses. The company’s facilities are equipped with the modern knitting, dyeing and finishing technology.

The company’s design teams are located worldwide, with the main design centre based in Guangzhou, China. Other design studios are also located in New York, US, and Calais, France.

Skin compatibility test

Hohenstein’s skin compatibility test is adapted, in the case of products worn close to the skin, to test for interaction with living skin cells. Samples undergo a thorough evaluation to determine whether skin cells are damaged by contact in a way that could result in skin irritation. A selection of Tianhai lace was analysed and found to be non-toxic to skin cells. It can therefore be promoted as skin-friendly.

Consequently, being awarded the Skin Friendly declaration not only increases product and consumer safety but also enables a company to benefit from the high recognition rate of Hohenstein’s tested quality, the Institute explains.

In addition, all lace made by Tianhai is also covered by an Oeko-Tex 100 certification. Tianhai Lace is also committed to improving the environmental impact of its manufacturing operations, having obtained ISO 14001 certification.
