Wolford chief steps down

The CEO of Austrian hosiery producer Wolford AG, Holger Dahmen, is to leave the company at the end of January at his own request to ‘seek a new external challenge’ after more than 10 years as CEO of the Wolford Group. Dahmen will resign from the Management Board with immediate effect.

“In the past 10 years, Holger Dahmen managed the company with great aptitude and guided it through the difficulties of economic and currency crises. We regret his retirement very much and wish him all the success for his future career,” says Emil Flückiger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wolford AG.

The company's history, which spans over 60 years, has seen it develop from a business focusing solely on Legwear and Bodywear to an international premium brand with an extensive range of products.

Wolford’s Supervisory Board will the search for a successor with a proven range of experience in the areas of marketing and sales of luxury products and until further notice, the company will be managed by Management Board members Axel Dreher and Thomas Melzer. Axel Dreher will function as spokesman of Wolford AG.

“Through the temporary allocation of executive responsibilities to Axel Dreher and Thomas Melzer, an efficient and smooth implementation of the lately decided refocusing strategy is guaranteed. Both gentlemen have extensive experience in their respective areas of responsibility as well as in the implementation of a strategic refocusing and will thereby be supported by a strong team in the operating management level,” Flückiger concluded.

The company's history, which spans over 60 years, has seen it develop from a business focusing solely on Legwear and Bodywear to an international premium brand with an extensive range of products. The first stage in the historic development of the product range saw the step from tights to bodies in 1992. These bodies did not feature any seams; instead they were based on the same circular knitting technology that was used in the successful tights models.

This development was followed by a stringent product diversification based on the brand's quality standards, and saw the range being expanded to incorporate additional areas of Bodywear. With the establishment of the five product groups Legwear, Ready-to-wear, Lingerie, Swimwear and Accessories, Wolford aims to provide all the essentials for a woman’s wardrobe.
