Report summary

This latest report in our flagship series contains statistical data, information and insight into the textile and apparel industries in the EU. The report identifies important trends and includes information on: production of textiles and clothing; textile and clothing imports by supplying country; textile and clothing exports by destination country; and textile and clothing trade balances.

It also analyses trade and production activities in each EU member state and provides an outlook. The report presents a wealth of information and is essential for anyone who is considering sourcing from, selling to or investing in the EU and its leading supplying countries and export markets. During 2016, textile production in the EU increased for the third consecutive year but clothing production declined to its lowest level in several years.

Admittedly exports of textiles and clothing to countries outside the EU increased in value and volume, but so did imports of textiles and clothing from countries outside the EU and the EU's textile and clothing trade deficit widened.
