ShinWon Corporation has announced a worldwide expansion of its self-developed RFID Tunnel System, aiming to eliminate packaging errors and deliver full transparency across its international supply chain. The move marks a significant step in the company’s digital transformation strategy and reinforces its position as a leader in technology-driven knitted apparel manufacturing.
Designed to address long-standing challenges in high-mix, low-volume production environments, the RFID Tunnel System provides automated, real-time verification of product quantities as goods move through a compact tunnel fitted with high-performance RFID readers. The system integrates seamlessly with the Manufacturing Execution System, using artificial intelligence to validate packaging information and cross-check tag data, significantly reducing manual work and the risk of mislabelling.
At PT. Fashion Stitch Joshua in Indonesia, where the system is already operational, inspection efficiency has increased by around 32%. The factory currently processes roughly 1,740 cartons each day - equivalent to approximately 30,000 garments - and can manage up to 2,500 cartons simultaneously during multi-line inspections. A reduction in tunnel length from 5 metres to 3.2 metres has also improved space utilisation by more than 30%, allowing for additional production lines within the same floor area.
ShinWon expects the global rollout to further enhance packaging accuracy and reinforce confidence among international buyers. The company is targeting “Zero Claim” performance through strengthened quality control and data-led process management. Completion of the installation across all subsidiaries is planned for the first quarter of next year, at which point ShinWon will operate a fully integrated traceability system capable of tracking every stage from packing to shipment in real time.
In parallel, the business is piloting an end-to-end traceability programme that combines RFID and UPC technologies to follow materials and products from raw cotton through to global distribution. Future development plans include AI-driven predictive production management tools and sustainability-focused logistics optimisation.
Peter Lee, Manager of ShinWon’s Smart Engineering Team, said the system’s global deployment represents “a significant milestone in driving digital transformation across the fashion manufacturing industry”, adding that enhanced transparency will strengthen partnerships and support a more sustainable sector.
ShinWon is also implementing a blockchain-based traceability platform to reinforce ethical compliance among supply partners while expanding its use of emerging technologies such as Generative AI design, AI agent-driven virtual showrooms, immersive VR experiences, and machine-learning-based trend forecasting.
Founded in 1973, ShinWon Corporation is a leading Korean fashion business with a strong retail presence in Korea and China. The company supplies major global brands with knitwear and other garments produced in factories across Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, and Indonesia, continually upgrading its manufacturing capabilities to offer expanded sourcing options.
