Anvil Knitwear Inc’s CEO, Anthony Corsano has been named Ernst & Young Metro New York Entrepreneur of the Year 2008. The award recognizes entrepreneurial excellence in the retail and consumer products category. Corsano was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Marriott Marquis, Times Square, New York on Thursday, June 26.

"I'm honoured to accept this prestigious award, which is the result of a collaborative effort of many," said Corsano. "The entire family of Anvil employees worked tirelessly during the last three years to insure a smooth transition through our restructuring, including the phenomenally successful launch of our AnvilOrganic line. Our customers and suppliers believed what we were telling them, and more importantly, they believed in us. Without their support and belief we could not have reached our goals. I'm proud to be recognized on behalf of Anvil, our customers and our suppliers."
