Integrated polyester manufacturer Asia Pacific Fibers has announced a strategic collaboration with Australian clean technology company BlockTexx to develop and supply textile-to-textile recycled polyester filament yarn solutions for the global fashion industry.
The partnership marks a significant step towards advancing circularity within the textile sector, where less than 1% of global fibre production currently comes from recycled textiles. According to the Textile Exchange Materials Market Report 2024, global fibre production reached 124 million tonnes in 2023 and is expected to rise to 160 million tonnes by 2030.
BlockTexx recovers polyester and cellulose from post-consumer blended textiles using its proprietary S.O.F.T. (Separation of Fibre Technology) process, producing PolyTexx and CellTexx materials for remanufacture into new fibres, fabrics, and trims. These high-value raw materials are used by Asia Pacific Fibers to create its Re-petitive yarns — made from PolyTexx rPET — which offer circular solutions that minimise water usage, chemical pollution, and landfill waste.
“Our flagship product Re-petitive exemplifies our commitment to sustainability,” said V. Ravishankar, CEO of Asia Pacific Fibers. “By closing the loop on end-of-life textiles, we enable our customers and brand partners to achieve their environmental goals while maintaining high standards in performance and design.”
Graham Ross, Co-founder of BlockTexx, added: “Our mission has always been to deliver low-emission, commercial-scale recycled products that are price competitive with virgin materials. The technical expertise of Asia Pacific Fibers strengthens our shared ambition to drive true textile-to-textile circularity.”
Re-petitive yarns are available in raw white, dope-dyed, and functional variants offering stretch, moisture management, UV protection, anti-microbial and biodegradable properties. Made from 100% recycled polymers, these yarns can include 10–50% textile waste and carry OEKO-TEX, GRS and RCS certifications.
The two companies will co-develop a range of commercially ready filament yarns and jointly promote them to international fashion and textile markets, underscoring a shared commitment to scalable circular solutions.
