Warp and circular knitter Christian Eschler AG has been awarded the Bluesign standard, an award presented to companies which commit to manufacturing textile products that are environmentally friendly, pose no health hazards, and conserve resources to the greatest possible extent.

Demand for the Bluesign award is the result of strict legislation and meeting it will be crucial for future success of textile related businesses. The Bluesign standard, which has been developed by Bluesign Technologies AG since 2002, starts from the ground up and instead of focussing on finished products tackles the important issues before production commences, vetting components and processes and ensuring that they meet specified criteria.

The Bluesign standard is practice-oriented. Instead of working with bans and restrictions it provides solutions for environmental health and safety issues on all levels, from raw material and chemical components suppliers to manufacturers and retailers. According to Bluesign, the standard is being adopted across the textile supply chain and is endorsed by chemical companies such as Huntsman, Clariant and DyStar.

Christian Eschler AG is an innovative manufacturer of high quality warp and weft knitted fabrics for active sportswear, workwear, technical textiles as well as sophisticated basic fabrics for embroidery and lingerie.
