Xinao Fashion Contest Winners Announced

Xinao Group has revealed the results of its knitwear designer competition. Over 2,500 votes were cast over the three days of the Spinexpo Shanghai exhibition, 70% of which were the votes of the judging panel and 30% representing the votes of the exhibition visitors. The competition was sponsored by China Wool Textile Industry Association, Woolmark Company and the organisers of Spinexpo, an international exhibition for fibres, yarns, knitwear, knitted fabrics and creative machinery.

Accredited as a Woolmark licensee, Xinao is one of the leading Merino suppliers, known for its dedicated commitment to sustainability. The company boasts lSO9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental systems and has obtained a Merinomark licence. Xinao yarns are accredited Oeko-Tex standard 100 class 1 and have received pure wool yarn and wool tops Eco-Label Certification. Xinao is one of the only Merino suppliers that has implemented the use of H2O2 instead of chlorine. Cashfeel and Newchuwa are the two most representative brands.

The first prize went to Hiu Ham Lui, student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who came up with the Mindset Body design, created by knitwear manufacturer Shenzhen Mikla Fashion. Hiu Ham Lui used the Easy Care and Cashfeel yarns of the Xinao Group to create a mesh surface effect that highlights the simple lines of the clothing, as well as Empire for its flexibility and its skin-friendly properties.

The second prize was awarded to Wing Sem Mak, also student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic Univeristy, with his Lively Midnight & Wander British creation, which was made possible with help from knitwear manufacturer Tongxiang Yichang Fashion. Wing Sem Mak used the 2/48 Nm Cashfeel for his designs.

Finally, the third prize went to Enping Chen/Suhui Song, of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, for their Wander British concept, implemented by manufacturer Jinlong Technlogy. They chose the 2/30 Nm Cashfeel and Charm yarns.

Spinexpo is a professional trade exhibition dedicated to promoting innovation in yarns, fibres and knitwear. According to organisers, its Shanghai based exhibition has been an ongoing catalyst for the textile and fashion industry and it aims to move suppliers and buyers forward, to bring new ideas in design and innovative technical applications to the market. “Buyers have come to recognise Spinexpo as a place of paramount importance, the vanguard of cutting-edge ideas, creativity and inspiration,” say organisers.
