Spring / Summer 2027 fashion trends will take centre stage at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, as the fair unveils Paradox, a concept reflecting optimism, well-being and renewed consumer desire. Running from 11 to 13 March 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the event will present the trends at the dedicated Trend Forum in Hall 5.1.

Paradox serves as the unifying thread for four seasonal themes – Affection, Breathe, Bewitching and Honouration – developed by leading trend forecasters from global fashion capitals. The trends were conceived by Sachiko Inoue of Tokyo together with committee members from NellyRodi Agency in Paris, Doneger | Tobe in New York and Elementi Moda in Milan.

More than 700 fabric and accessory samples will be displayed at the Trend Forum, offering buyers and designers practical inspiration across fabrics, colours, prints and patterns. A comprehensive Trend Guide will also support sourcing decisions, highlighting key materials and design directions for the season.

Across the four themes, Paradox places emphasis on authenticity, individuality and durability, favouring discreet elegance over spectacle. The concepts encourage confidence through simplicity, craftsmanship and an acceptance of imperfection.

Affection explores a softer approach to citywear, blending masculine and feminine influences with comfort-driven silhouettes. Subtle neutrals, off-whites and gentle greys are complemented by touches of greenery and soft yellow, while fabrics combine technical performance with refined wool, delicate checks and understated stripes.

Breathe draws on nautical inspiration, merging urban elegance with adaptable functionality. Fresh aqua and blue tones, soft-touch technical fabrics and wave-inspired textures convey a relaxed yet sophisticated mood suited to changing climates.

Bewitching celebrates sensuality and craftsmanship, with fluid drapes, organic prints and influences from nocturnal nature and ritual symbolism. Rich, contrasting colours and expressive materials such as chiffon, organza and satin create an emotive, mysterious aesthetic.

Honouration highlights global artisanal heritage, elevating natural materials through refined construction and subtle detailing. Warm neutrals sit alongside intense brights, while patterns reference ikats, geometric abstractions and understated classical motifs.

Exhibitors may apply to submit fabrics for Trend Forum consideration until 6 January 2026. The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Centre, and will run alongside Yarn Expo Spring and other concurrent textile events in Shanghai.
