The Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (Dornbirn GFC) has opened its call for papers for the 2026 edition of its international innovation platform for the fibre and textile industry. Marking its 65th anniversary, the congress will take place from 16–18 September 2026 in Dornbirn, Austria, with around 100 specialist presentations expected.

Researchers, experts, manufacturers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals addressing key transformation themes shaping the global fibre sector. Under the heading “From Fiber Recycling to Systemic Change – Scaling Circular Solutions Across the Globe”, one core topic will examine circularity across natural, synthetic and man-made fibres, from mechanical and chemical recycling and renewable carbon to regenerative models for wool, cotton and bast fibres, as well as policy frameworks and cross-border collaboration.

A second focus area, “Digital Futures – AI, Data & Intelligent Fibers”, will explore artificial intelligence and data-driven tools in material design and production, including AI-supported manufacturing, digital product passports, smart textiles with integrated sensors and adaptive properties, and enhanced traceability for natural fibre supply chains.

“Functional & Innovative Fibers – From High-Performance to Daily Life” will highlight developments in bio-based and high-performance polymers, functionalised natural fibres such as wool, hemp, cotton and flax, new man-made fibre innovations in polyester, polyamide, aramid and speciality fibres, and hybrid systems enabling advanced performance and processing routes.

Workwear and protective wear, including defence and military applications, form another session, focusing on high-performance and ballistic fibres, flame, heat and cut resistance, hybrid natural/synthetic materials and circular design concepts for durable workwear systems. A further cross-industry topic, “Fibre & Textile meets Pulp & Paper”, will look at synergies between the fibre, textile and paper sectors, from circular raw materials to surface technologies and new high-value paper applications.

With its longstanding role as a meeting point for global fibre and textile innovation, Dornbirn GFC offers selected speakers a platform to present pioneering research and industrial developments to an international audience from across the value chain. The organisers say contributions are particularly welcome that demonstrate scalable solutions, collaborative approaches and concrete pathways towards climate and resource goals.

The deadline for submissions is 15 February 2026.
