Marchi & Fildi, a leading Italian manufacturer of Ecotec smart cotton, is widening its international reach with new partners that offer a wide range of products in a variety of colours and textures. The company will highlight its latest collaborations and developments at the upcoming Filo trade fair for yarns and fibres that takes place in Milan next week.

Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi is made in Italy from a traceable and certified manufacturing process that turns 100% pre-dyed cotton textile clippings into colourful Ecotec yarns. Thanks to the process, the left-over inventories generated during the production of clothing are gathered and transformed into Ecotec yarns, reducing waste and minimising the use of raw resources.

New partners

New Ecotec partners include Avelana - Fábrica de Malhas, founded in 1986, a specialist in the production and marketing of a wide range of knitwear for apparel. The company’s certificates and memberships include: FAIRTRADE Certified Cotton, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), Oeko-Tex, BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), and OCS Certification.

Another new company on board is Fiveol Textil, an Italian producer of knitted jersey fabric, ribs and jacquard, using natural, synthetic and Ecotec yarn by Marchi & Fildi.

Lurdes Sampaio Knits, a Portuguese company, offers innovative textures and compositions to reach a better functionality dedicated commitment to sustainability and best social practices. GOTS member, Oeko-Tex certified and proudly supports BCI to create a better future for cotton-farming communities.

NGS Malhas, also a Portuguese company, was founded in 1998. With over 27,000 references, NGS’ portfolio includes high-quality knit fabrics.

Finally, Vilartex, another Portuguese company, offers a long-standing tradition in high-quality circular knits for fashion applications. The collection includes basic, fancy, and beautiful jacquards. Vilartex is certificated by ISO 9001 (SQA), Oeko-Tex 100 and GOTS (organic).

New inspiration

Dedicated to discovery and innovation, Marchi & Fildi every season offers textile developments that showcase its Ecotec range of smart and responsible yarns. “As a spinner it is vital to show direct partners the potential of using their dynamic coloured range of eco-centric materials,” the company explains. “For Spring/Summer 2020 season, Ecotec looks at an oceanic coolness and organic vegetal texturing, playing with the ebb and flow of nature in soft tonalities for jacquard open, clean plaids, bayaderes and new athleisure semi plains for Polaris and Chagall qualities.”

“New casual textures and crisp, dry Prince of Wales checks work in Pegasus yarns, while Phoenix is colourised in fancy mesh stripings. The lightest double face combinations or elaborate open lace effects make the most of the Ginerva luxe quality. Texture and movement come from manipulated pleated stripes and tonal jacquards or in random surface textures using smart blended Phoenix qualities.”

This season, contemporary brand adoptions include Ice Monkey Berlin. The brand designs timeless and luxurious T-shirts and polos. As a young fashion brand from Berlin it is constantly looking for smart solutions. Therefore, the brand selected several Ecotec jersey qualities produced by Tintex Textiles for its capsule collection 2019. The new interpretations of urban classics stand out with nonchalance and high-quality fabric.
