Report summary
The European yarn fairs for the autumn/winter 2026/27 season were well attended and served as an important platform for presenting the latest trends and innovations in fibres, yarns and knitwear. The fairs highlighted how colour, material choice and sustainability considerations are continuing to shape product development across the sector.
For autumn/winter 2026/27, colour trends were led by tones of deep brown, brooding shades of khaki green and enlivening varieties of burgundy. Alongside these richer hues, there was also clear evidence that icy and cool colours will play a supporting role during the season. These palettes reflect a balance between warmth and freshness, offering designers flexibility across different market segments.
In terms of fibres, biodegradable materials proved especially popular at the fairs. Of particular significance were polyester yarns offering a degree of biodegradability, reflecting growing concern about environmental impact. Imitation fibres were also widely showcased, with artificial and cellulosic fibres designed to mimic animal fibres, noble fibres and other natural materials featuring prominently in many collections.
A strong focus on sustainability was evident throughout the exhibitions. Fibres and yarns made using recycled materials derived from textile waste were highly prevalent, underlining the industry’s commitment to circularity. For many exhibitors, traceability was a key consideration, influencing both the design and production of yarn collections and responding to increasing demand for transparency within supply chains.
