Shima Seiki USA will be exhibiting its digitalization technologies at the upcoming PI Apparel New York event from 9-10 November 2021. Shima’s PR Manager, Hayato Nishi, will be speaking on stage alongside Nicholas Paganelli from Ralph Lauren, about how the brand has used Shima Seiki’s APEX during these crucial times to begin shifting towards digitalisation.

Shima Seiki USA previously showcased the APEX Design System at PI NY 2019, highlighting ways designers can utilize the system to digitize their designs to streamline their design process. Unlike other software that was on display, the APEX allows designers to design in the manufacturing language instead of creating a virtual design reference, Shima says.

“We can also capture the yarns realistic characteristics to simulate woven, circular, and flat knit swatches which can be mapped onto a 3D body. In addition, we can simulate WHOLEGARMENT products, taking into account the connection points and fashioning details which other software cannot achieve,” Hayato Nishi explains.
