Fulgar, a leader in the production of innovative man-made yarns has acquired Pompea, a well-established hosiery, tights and intimate wear brand.

“It’s an all-Italian operation, as Fulgar, based in Castel Goffredo, in the heart of the country’s hosiery district and boasting a turnover of over EUR 200 million, is the top producer of superior quality Nylon 6.6 and European distributor for the Lycra brand,” Fulgar said in a statement.

“One of the first companies in the textiles sector to address the issue of sustainability, for over ten years now Fulgar has been implementing a comprehensive Green programme, producing a constantly-growing portfolio of eco-friendly products.”

Pompea is a famous brand and large manufacturing concern based in the same area of the Mantova region. With an annual turnover of EUR 70 million, it owns and handles direct distribution of the lingerie brand Roberta.

“The acquisition is part of a project that aims to help re-establish the central role and leadership of the hosiery district in the European tights and intimate wear market, partly by protecting the brand’s distinctively Italian character,” says Fulgar CEO Attilia Casnici. “We believe that this operation will benefit the entire area and we will work to maintain market equity”.

“In recent months we also experienced interest in the acquisition from Russian investors and international funds. My family and I have deep roots in the region and so we’re delighted that Pompea is to remain in Italian hands, safeguarding the brand’s future and the jobs of its workforce”, said Alessandro Rodella, owner of Pompea.

Fulgar is the international leader in the synthetic fibre market, producing and distributing nylon 6.6 and covered elastomers in the textile and technical fabric sectors. Launched in the late 1970s at Castel Goffredo (Mantova), in Italy's hosiery region, Fulgar has carved out a position as sector leader on the international scene, confirming its international approach with new production centres and installations.

Over the past three years the company’s investment in R&D has seen constant growth. A commitment to environmental issues has also contributed to its success, expressed through projects and initiatives involving the entire production process.  Fulgar is present in all sectors of the textile industry, from hosiery to circular knits, intimate wear, beachwear and sportswear, offering excellent products that stand out for their quality and uniqueness, while always respecting ‘Made in Italy’ textile tradition.
