The Lenzing Group has announced a major step forward for circular textiles with innovative fabric blends that address quality challenges in recycled natural fibres. Working with Italian spinner Marchi & Fildi, knitter Maglificio Maggia, weaver Destro Fabrics and knitwear specialist Madiva, Lenzing has demonstrated how its Tencel Lyocell fibres can unlock premium applications for mechanically recycled cotton, silk and wool.
Brands are increasingly pressured to use recycled content, yet performance and feel often fall short. Lenzing’s Tencel Lyocell variants, including low-fibrillating LF, LFH and non-fibrillating A100, stabilise the quality of recycled inputs, delivering consistent results across knitting, weaving and corespun fabrics.
At Milano Unica this month, visitors will see these blends up close. Showcasing commercial knits combining Tencel Lyocell with recycled silk, wool and cotton, the collections highlight how targeted fibre selection can balance sustainability and luxury. Italian craftsmanship is key, with partners emphasising how the blends preserve softness, colour brilliance and comfort while using up to 50% recycled content.
The partnership also pioneers performance constructions, combining Tencel with Cradle-to-Cradle Certified elastane and new dyeing techniques. By solving scale and consistency barriers, Lenzing’s approach shows that circularity need not compromise quality, helping brands meet rising consumer expectations for sustainability and premium feel.
