Stretch innovations shine in Milan

Latest textile advances blend performance and responsibility.

Leading textile innovators showcased standout stretch developments at Milano Unica last week, marking a significant leap forward in responsible performance fabrics for sportswear, fashion, and lingerie. The event featured brands using advanced fibres like Roica to combine comfort, durability, and environmental stewardship.

Brugnoli presented its new Naturally Explosive fabric, crafted with Tencel Modal and Roica Colour Perfect stretch fibre for a true second-skin effect and muscle support. This breakthrough brings next-level freedom of movement to natural fibre performance fabrics for both sportswear and ready-to-wear, with biodegradable and recycled fibre options also available.

Iluna Group unveiled a premium lace collection for prêt-à-porter and beachwear, blending Roica EF recycled stretch fibre with Q-Nova and Rencycle recycled polyamides. Printable jacquards, GRS-certified Lurex nets, and expressive elastic lace deliver both refined style and eco credentials.

InnovaFabrics introduced its Residual Free line, combining Sensil Biocare and Roica V550 to reduce environmental impact while maintaining elasticity and comfort. Key fabrics like I Love Rf and Paris Special highlight how sustainability and performance can align.

InterJersey Milano made its Milano Unica debut, showcasing fabrics such as Venere, Bio Nature, and Bio Context. Each uses Roica V550 and Amni Soul Eco to enhance softness, elasticity, and biodegradability, supporting mindful production in underwear and swimwear.

Maglificio Maggia impressed with its cashmere and Tencel Modal blends, like Simple Jersey and Milano Rib, which pair luxurious feel with the reliable stretch of Roica V550. These knits are ideal for lightweight winter wear, combining texture, comfort, and durability.

Maglificio Ripa demonstrated its long-standing expertise in circular knitted fabrics. Its four-way stretch textiles, featuring Roica fibres, offer custom jacquard designs for sportswear, swimwear, and intimates. The brand’s approach emphasises artisanal craftsmanship elevated by cutting-edge fibre technology.

Penn Solutions highlighted its technical base fabrics for sports suits, including highly engineered textiles with Reco Nylon and Roica V550 for reduced air resistance, zoned breathability, and support. This approach reduces seams and enhances skin comfort for athletes.

Reda celebrated its 160th anniversary with the new 2865 wool fabric in shades like Aubergine and Copper. Enhanced with Roica V550 degradable stretch fibre, the fabric showcases versatility, adapting from jackets to trousers while balancing elegance, movement, and sustainability.

Sitip Group revealed its New Monica, Force PLX Light, and Blizzard PLX Stone fabrics. Each combines durable stretch, UPF 50+ protection, and innovative technologies like Eclipse Sun Protection with Roica fibres, delivering advanced fit and thermal performance for sportswear and outerwear.

Finally, Tessitura Colombo Antonio presented a refined lace selection featuring Roica premium stretch fibre. Renowned for its timeless designs for lingerie and women’s fashion, the brand continues to balance artisanal tradition with forward-looking, responsible innovation.
