Unifi, the Greensboro-based manufacturer of Repreve recycled and synthetic yarns, has introduced AMY Peppermint – a naturally deodorising yarn designed to provide long-lasting freshness. Using sustainably sourced peppermint oil, it offers a botanical alternative to traditional antimicrobial treatments.

Alongside AMY Peppermint, the company is also launching Repreve Takeback and ThermaLoop insulation, both made entirely from textile waste. These developments underline Unifi’s drive to expand its circular product portfolio and support its target to recycle the equivalent of 1.5 billion T-shirts’ worth of textile waste by 2030.

AMY Peppermint is engineered for durability and versatility across apparel, footwear, home textiles and transportation. Available globally in both virgin and Repreve recycled polyester, its freshness properties last through 50 home launderings. It is fully traceable via FiberPrint technology and certified by U-Trust, GRS and SCS for recycled content.

“This launch reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Eddie Ingle, CEO of Unifi. “AMY Peppermint gives brands a powerful tool to deliver freshness and performance through the power of nature.”

The yarn joins Unifi’s wider AMY anti-odour portfolio, which includes silver and zinc oxide technologies. Together, these solutions provide versatile freshness options that can also be combined with other performance features.

Repreve Takeback circular polyester now includes white-dyeable high-performance filament, staple fibre and solution-dyed colours. ThermaLoop insulation, previously made with 50% recycled content, has been upgraded to 100% textile waste-based options, including down-like fibre, fibreball and padding for thermal efficiency.
