Shima Seiki has announced a new collaboration with Italy-based Milano Trend through its yarnbank digital yarn sourcing web service, with the shared objective of supporting and revitalising the global fashion industry.
Milano Trend is headquartered in Milan, one of the world’s leading fashion capitals, and is known for connecting international brands with leading yarn manufacturers. Each season, the company curates dedicated yarn collections for knitwear, giving design teams privileged access to high-quality Italian yarns. Alongside this, Milano Trend provides B2B information services designed to support product development and enhance sales across the fashion sector.
The partnership was first presented publicly in October 2025 during the Archivi Aperti Punti Maglieria event, held at the Milano Trend showroom. The event showcased the latest knit materials and marked the first joint project between Milano Trend and yarnbank. A dedicated area featured recommended knit fabrics from yarn manufacturers participating in Shima’s yarnbank platform.
The event attracted designers from a wide range of brands, with strong interest shown in premium materials such as Japanese paper yarns, luxurious cashmere and richly textured knit surfaces. Attendees also welcomed the opportunity to access detailed technical and sourcing information on the same materials directly via the yarnbank website, with many designers registering for the service during the event itself.
Through this ongoing collaboration, Milano Trend and yarnbank aim to continue supporting knitwear development by combining physical showcases with digital access to comprehensive yarn information. The partners state that they will continue to provide valuable resources to assist the industry and contribute to the future growth of knitwear.
