Shima Seiki USA successfully exhibited at the Techtextil North America show, which was held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA from 17th-19th May 2022. On show were various industrial samples covering furniture, apparel, medical, and other industrial applications.

Shima Seiki has been well known as a glove and flat-bed knitting machine manufacturer in the apparel industry, so at the Atlanta show, it decided to focus on ‘techKNITians – technical engineered knit applications’, where it presented the latest samples across various industries highlighting technically knitted goods outside from just traditional sweaters.

Shima also displayed its latest computerized flat knitting machines aimed at promoting knitted applications in the field of technical textiles. This MACH2XS machine features the company’s original Slide Needle on 4 needle beds and a patented spring-loaded full-time sinker system. Capable of WHOLEGARMENT knitting in all needles, MACH2XS offers excellent flexibility for knitting high-quality WHOLEGARMENT products with a seemingly endless variety of knit patterns at very high speed and efficiency, all while minimizing dependence upon labour-intensive sewing and linking. During the show, it showcased an FR Balaclava using Regitex yarns, where a seam-free balaclava was being knit in one entire piece.

Shima also showcased the SWG091N2 compact WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine, also featuring SlideNeedle technology. Capable of producing small knitted items from safety gloves and compression socks to more sophisticated industrial applications such as tubular shields and harnesses, SWG091N2 offers unique solutions for the automotive, aerospace, sports, medical, and safety, outdoor, and other markets by knitting items in 3D without seams. During the show, the Japanese company showcased an FR and Cut-Resistant Glove that plaited each yarn for added functionality.

In addition to the samples being knitted, Shima highlighted new samples on mannequins that included various cut-resistant and flame retardant applications. Some of the products on display included cut-resistant base layers, cut-resistant aprons, cut-resistant gloves, flame retardant aprons, conductive wearable garments, and conductive gloves.

On the second day of Techtextil North America 2022 Exhibit, Hayato Nishi, PR Manager for Shima Seiki USA was invited to speak at one of the new programs called The Studio. Under the theme of Trends & Innovations in Knitwear and Accessories, he presented the latest case studies of WHOLEGARMENT applications in the global apparel industry.

“Overall, we had a successful event, and wanted to take this time to thank all of you that were able to stop by the show. Be sure to join our future events, where we hope to update you on more relevant information for your future knit-related developments,” Shima concluded.
