Gildan Activewear Inc. has once more been named one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Knights and included on TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies list. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Gildan has secured a place on Corporate Knights’ respected ranking and the second time it has appeared on TIME’s global sustainability index.
As one of only two companies from the Textiles and Clothing Manufacturing sector in Canada to make the Best 50 list, Gildan continues to demonstrate the strength of its ESG strategy. The company was also recognised by TIME as one of just two Canadian firms listed under the “Apparel, Footwear & Sporting Goods” category for its performance across sustainability indicators.
“ESG is a key pillar of Gildan’s Sustainable Growth strategy, and we have shown time and again that sustainability goes together with business success,” said Glenn Chamandy, President and CEO of Gildan. “This achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated teams, who have been working hard to bring to life our Next Generation ESG strategy, and I am confident that we will continue to deliver on our commitment to making apparel with respect.”
Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Corporate Citizens list assesses companies with over $1 billion in annual revenues against 25 key performance indicators covering resource management, sustainable revenue, investments, and supplier performance. Similarly, TIME’s list evaluated more than 5,000 major global companies, measuring sustainability efforts based on reputable external ratings, science-based targets, reporting transparency and progress on social and environmental goals.
A leading manufacturer of everyday basics, Gildan owns a portfolio of brands including Gildan, American Apparel, Comfort Colors, Goldtoe, and Peds, and produces for the printwear channel under an exclusive licensing agreement for Champion. Its vertically integrated production spans Central America, the Caribbean, North America and Bangladesh, combining large-scale manufacturing with a strong focus on responsible practices throughout its supply chain.
The company’s ongoing recognition confirms its role as a global benchmark in sustainable apparel production, aligning business growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
