Grasim Industries’ Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business has launched Raysileco, an innovative sustainable viscose filament yarn (VFY) under the well-known Raysil brand. Introduced at the 7th edition of Yarn Expo in Surat, the new yarn combines high-performance with complete traceability, meeting the growing demand for responsible fashion materials.
Raysileco is produced from wood pulp sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests and integrates both physical and digital traceability technologies. This dual-layered approach ensures full transparency across the supply chain - from raw material origin to finished garment.
“Raysileco embodies the spirit of innovation with robust sustainability credentials and advanced traceability technologies,” said Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of the Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business at Grasim. “This product not only reinforces our commitment to sustainability and end-to-end traceability but also empowers our value chain partners with confidence to verify and trust every filament they use.”
The yarn is manufactured at Grasim’s facilities in Kalyan, Maharashtra and Veraval, Gujarat. It represents a key investment in smart, scalable and environmentally responsible production processes. Grasim has partnered with TextileGenesis to implement blockchain-based traceability using digital tokens called Fibercoins, enabling brands to track the yarn’s journey in real-time from source to store.
As global regulations around sustainability tighten, traceability has become a vital tool for fashion brands striving for transparency and accountability. Raysileco addresses these needs by embedding traceability at the molecular level, supporting verification efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
Grasim’s Raysil remains the only global brand offering three types of viscose filament yarn technology: Pot Spun Yarn (PSY), Continuous Spun Yarn (CSY), and Spool Spun Yarn (SSY). With the introduction of Raysileco, the company strengthens its leadership in sustainable textile innovation.
