Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the textile industry, influencing everything from creative development and production processes to pricing, distribution and communication. Heimtextil 2026, taking place from 13 to 16 January in Frankfurt, is positioning itself as a central platform for understanding how AI can be applied effectively and where it delivers genuine value for businesses.
With a comprehensive content programme dedicated to AI, Heimtextil aims to equip the global textile sector with practical knowledge, new perspectives and concrete business opportunities. The programme addresses professionals from design, retail, manufacturing, architecture, interior design and contract furnishing, combining strategic insight with hands-on examples.
At the heart of the knowledge offering is the Texpertise Stage in Hall 6.0, where international experts translate technological innovation into real-world applications. A key highlight is a live talk with London-based architect and AI pioneer Tim Fu, who will discuss interior design in the age of artificial intelligence with Simon Keane-Cowell, Editor-in-Chief of Architonic. Further sessions explore AI-driven workflows, data integration and material development, illustrating how companies can successfully embed AI into everyday operations.
Design-led innovation is a strong focus through Heimtextil Trends 26/27, curated by Alcova under the theme “Craft is a verb”. Presented in the Trend Arena in Hall 6.1, six stylistic directions demonstrate how AI-supported design processes can coexist with traditional textile craftsmanship. The trends are expressed through bold colour palettes, digital disruptions and synthetic accents, offering inspiration and orientation for the coming season.
AI’s creative potential is also explored through the installation “among-all” by Patricia Urquiola in Hall 3.0. The designer combines advanced textile concepts, sustainable materials and AI technologies to create an immersive, participatory experience. Daily guided tours and a live talk on 14 January provide further insight into how intelligent textiles may shape future interiors.
For the contract and hospitality sectors, Heimtextil’s Interior.Architecture.Hospitality programme presents tailored content on AI as a creative and strategic partner. Talks and discussions address the evolving role of design in commercial interiors and demonstrate how AI can support concept development and project execution.
Practical applications for craftspeople and interior decorators are highlighted on the DecoTeam Stage, where AI-supported tools for room planning, colour concepts, sales processes and digital communication are presented. Meanwhile, the debut of the New Talents Area in Hall 6.1 offers a glimpse into how emerging designers are engaging with AI, showcasing fresh ideas and global perspectives.
By bringing together expertise, inspiration and applied knowledge, Heimtextil 2026 underscores the growing importance of artificial intelligence as a driver of innovation and competitiveness within the textile industry.
