Oroblù, the Italian legwear brand of CSP International Fashion Group, has announced a collaboration with The Lycra Company to introduce a new generation of bio-derived sneakers tights designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance standards for which the brand is known. The collection features Lycra EcoMade fibre, an elastomer produced using corn grown for industrial applications, marking a significant step towards more sustainable hosiery manufacturing.
The renewable-based elastomer is produced by fermenting glucose extracted from corn starch to create a plant-origin ingredient that replaces the fossil-derived component typically used to produce high-performance elastane. With a composition made from 70% renewable materials, Lycra EcoMade fibre provides elasticity, comfort and durability that align with Oroblù’s established quality benchmarks while helping to lower the textile industry’s carbon footprint.
Extensive performance testing supported the development of Oroblù’s Bio-Derived Sneakers Tights, which combine enhanced wearing comfort with a reinforced knitted structure in the shoe area for better resistance and a more secure fit. The result is a product that merges innovation and environmental responsibility without compromising everyday usability.
According to Carlo Bertoni, CEO of CSP International Fashion Group, the collaboration with The Lycra Company aligns with the group’s commitment to responsible innovation. He notes that Oroblù continues to prioritise materials with reduced environmental impact and documents its progress through regular sustainability reporting. The partnership reinforces the brand’s mission to unite beauty and comfort with responsibility.
The Lycra Company also highlights the importance of close collaboration across the supply chain to accelerate the introduction of new sustainable solutions. The joint project demonstrates how environmental performance can be improved while preserving the qualities that consumers associate with both Oroblù and Lycra fibre.
The bio-derived sneakers tights will be available on the Oroblù website from the end of November 2025, with a dedicated online product drop designed to introduce the project to its most engaged customers. In-store availability is scheduled for September 2026. The sustainable approach extends beyond the fibres to the packaging, which uses recycled plastic and recycled FSC-certified paper.
Founded in 1973 in the Mantua hosiery district, CSP International Fashion Group produces hosiery, beachwear, underwear and knitwear under brands including Oroblù, Luna di Seta, Perofil, Lepel, Sanpellegrino, Cagi, Well and Le Bourget.
